Our University President, Rev. Fr. Oliver G. Yalung, served as one of the resource speakers at the Clergy Annual Theological Updating held today, April 15, 2026, at the Archidiocese of San Fernando

Rev. Fr. Oliver G. Yalung’s presentation centers on the Eucharist as the heart of Christian life, emphasizing that God’s desire for humanity precedes all human response, as expressed in Luke 22:15: “I have earnestly desired…”. The Eucharist is thus understood not as a human initiative, but as a divine gift and invitation to communion.

He stressed that the Eucharist must not be reduced to mere ritual or routine, but embraced as a living encounter with Christ that calls for authentic, interior participation. The talk is a call to recover the depth, beauty, and transformative power of the Eucharist and Christian life. It challenges both clergy and faithful to move beyond superficial practice toward authentic encounter, proper formation, and meaningful participation, rooted in God’s love and desire.

He clarified that the role of the priest is to lead others to Christ, not to self, while the community is called to active and meaningful participation. The Eucharist, therefore, is transformative—sending the faithful forth to live out their mission in the world.

As University President, his message reflects a vision of the university that is “𝓫𝓲𝓪𝓼𝓪, 𝓶𝓪𝔂𝓪𝓹, 𝓪𝓽 𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓪𝓷𝓪𝓬𝓪”—rooted in simplicity, goodness, and joy—where academic life, formation, and mission are harmoniously integrated in forming authentic Christian disciples.
