CSFP Household Socio-Economic Panorama: A Futures Thinking Horizon Scanning

For over a decade, the City of San Fernando and the University of the Assumption have sustained a visionary partnership rooted in academic rigor, civic mission, and a shared commitment to progress. Through a landmark socio-economic profiling project, faculty researchers and National Service Training Program students unite to capture the heartbeat of the city’s 35 barangays. Every cycle, a new cohort of trained student-enumerators undertakes a 6–8-month immersion, gathering stories and data that reveal the lived realities of Fernandinos. Their work culminates in a comprehensive community profile submitted to the City Planning Office—an essential blueprint that guides policies, shapes programs, and supports a more inclusive and equitable city.
Anchored in futures thinking, this initiative aims to drive long-term social and economic transformation across the City of San Fernando through data informed governance. In the short term, the project provides critical inputs for crafting the Strategic City Development Plan and Barangay Action Plans. As an Archdiocesan university, the University of the Assumption remains steadfast in its mission to generate meaningful research that uplifts communities. By supplying timely, relevant, and reliable data, this collaboration becomes a vital force in supporting strategic policy development and improving the quality of life for every Fernandino.
